The Tubo people of Lobia, Ukubie, Azuzuama in Southern-Ijaw LGA, of Bayelsa state, Constituency four, have decried total Marginalisation, from political positions and are therefore seeking Leadership Inclusiveness.
This was revealed in an all inclusive meeting of various youths groups, women, elders and stakeholders of Ward 16, held Monday 24th in Yenagoa, with sole aim of chatting the way forward ahead of the forthcoming state elections and national elections.
The meeting was hosted by high Chief Selky Torughedi alias General Young shall grow, the National Chairman of all NIGER delta ex-agitators. In his welcoming address, the ex- agitator thanked the people of Ward 16 for coming in their large numbers to chart the way forward for the betterment and unity of the area, and assured them that proceedings and resolutions of the meeting will be fully adhered to, and necessary issues and developments will be looked into, as he moved further to declare the meeting open for deliberations.
In their remarks, the constituents of Ward 16 reveals that ward 16 constitute the highest of number of voters population in the entire Southern-Ijaw LGA, but yet to experience Inclusiveness in leadership positions. They decried Marginalisation and subjugation despite their popularity in the LGA as Politicians will come to them only during elections and campaigns.
They expressed their disapproval to support any other candidates for elective positions, as they vow that this time, their votes will not go to anyone or party, that is yet to align with their agenda.
They Posited that, political parties should run an inclusive representation where persons from the ward will be giving a fair share of leadership opportunity, at both, state, LGA and National level.
They communicated their resolve, to support any political party who will field in a competent and experienced member from Ward 16. As they are fully prepared and united to galvanise support and give block votes to their own.
“Despite our voting strength, power has always been taken to other direction, now it is time to support one of our own, and am glad we have seen popular and deserving Aspirants from our Ward, we will support them not considering party lines” A Stakeholder said.
General Young in his response, commended the efforts of the people, he assured them, that the position of the ward will be properly communicated to all political parties, and the state government.
