A former Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Chief Timipre Sylva, yesterday, distributed relief materials to victims sacked from their homes by the devastating flood.
The team which was named ‘Sylva flood relief team’ was headed by a former Youth commissioner, Hon. Ibarakumo Otobo.
The team visited major IDP camps in Yenagoa, at Igbogene, bags of rice, indomie, water, garri and cash, were given to the victims via the camp leaders.
Ibarakumo further moved round the camp, making assessment of the victim’s living condition, where he was caught by the sympathetic sight of about five nursing mothers, with newly born (s), he commiserated with the mothers and donated huge cash sum.
Receiving the items at Igbogene was Mr Aziowei Ayi, SEMA director of information and coordinator of the camp, he appreciated Chief Sylva and encouraged him to continue doing more.
The team further moved to Tombia community and gave out same items.
Speaking to newsmen, Ibarakumo noted, that the plight of the people was of great concern to Chief Timipre Sylva, who was keen in providing a better life, he assured the people of Sylva’s readiness to alleviate the pathetic situation.
He also noted that the move was void of any political coloration, but an act of humanity expressed with a clear conscience.
